BUSINESSCOM in a new look!

Futuristic logistics center in the former Bigla halls: The company BUSINESSCOM launches into the future

Approximately two years after the project began, the construction and installation work in Biglen is nearing completion. Over an area of 19,000 square meters, the company BUSINESSCOM has established one of the most modern logistics centers in Switzerland in the former halls of the office furniture manufacturer Bigla. A completely robotized storage system and a fully automated high-bay warehouse ensure a level of logistical performance that is second to none. BUSINESSCOM emphasizes the completion of the expansion project and the associated leap into the future with a new external appearance.

The freshly designed logo of BUSINESSCOM is a powerful symbol of modernity, innovation, and elegance. Created in-house by the marketing department, it reflects the future direction of the company. With clean lines and a contemporary design, it demonstrates a readiness for change and a commitment to always being at the forefront of the times.

The distinctive lettering of the logo signals a spirit of innovation and the ability to forge new paths. It represents the ambition to always set new standards and assert oneself in a dynamic business world.

The new appearance is intended to document the largest development step in our 24-year company history to the outside world. At the same time, the rebranding is also a motivating signal for our 180 employees,» explains Businesscom CEO Jürg Fuhrer, adding, «The new look expresses that we are enormously proud of our new facilities. However, we will, of course, continue to be measured primarily by our performance and reliability.

«Cuby» - the 4 m/s fast warehouse robots

To achieve and ensure the required performance, Businesscom AG has partnered with SSI Schäfer, a world leader in modular warehousing and logistics systems. Over 10 million Swiss Francs were invested in the construction of the new facility, creating one of the most modern logistics centers in Switzerland.

A total of 28 shuttles, called «Cubys», race through two shelving aisles at a speed of 4 m/s. On an area of about 1,000 m², 13 levels are served by these swift robots. Under full load, the system in Biglen can process over 2,000 customer orders in a day. Meanwhile, the fully automated high-bay warehouse ensures 24-hour replenishment.

«The logistics facility that we were allowed to build in Biglen is also an absolute showcase project for us,» explains Rolf Gutjahr, the planner responsible for the project from SSI Schäfer. «The facility combines maximum efficiency and high operational safety, while simultaneously minimizing errors in inventory management and delivery.»

Alongside the construction of the new logistics center, Businesscom has created 50 new jobs in Biglen. Even around the most advanced technology, there is still a need for a strong and competent logistics team to support and operate the facilities.

Setting the Course for the Future

Today, BUSINESSCOM is one of the leading Swiss companies in the distribution of pet supplies. Cat trees, dog beds, food bowls – the company manages over 15,000 different products. «Purchasing, storage, and distribution of pet products will continue to be our core business, but with the new infrastructure, we have also become an interesting partner for other sectors,» explains CEO Jürg Fuhrer. «Particularly with the growth of online commerce, many new needs are currently arising in the logistics sector. Thanks to our new logistics center in Biglen, we are ready to optimally meet new challenges.»
